Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover my windshield replacement?
YES! Windshield replacements are covered under comprehensive automobile insurance policies. Under Florida law, auto insurers must waive your deductible on glass-only claims. Simply schedule an appointment, and we’ll take care of everything for you.
Why does my insurance company want me to hire Safelite?
Safelite windshields are considered “aftermarket” glass which is an inferior product that does not meet manufacturer specifications. Signature Shield only installs OEM quality glass. Florida law requires insurers to restore vehicles to their pre-loss appearance, function, and value using like kind and quality materials.
Do I need to contact my insurance company before I contact Signature Shield?
No, we’re experts at verifying coverage and filing the claim. We’ll contact your insurance company and handle all the insurance paperwork associated with your claim.
Does Signature Shield work with all insurance companies and agents?

Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
Yes, we warranty our products and workmanship for as long as you own or lease your vehicle.
Will filing an auto glass claim count towards my insurance policy?
No, a cracked windshield is usually not your fault. It’s what the insurance companies refer to as a “no-fault” claim, and as such, won’t raise your premiums.
Will I have a long wait time for you to order my new windshield?
Signature Shield maintains a large windshield inventory that spans more than 380 of the most popular models used in vehicles on the road today. Most windshields are installed less than 24 hours after calling.
Can temperature cause auto glass damage?
Extreme temperatures can cause existing small cracks and chips to spread and further compromise the integrity of the glass, and therefore your safety. That’s why you should repair any glass damage as soon as it occurs.
What are some government regulations that apply to windshields?
Your vehicle has been built to help protect you in the event of an accident. All repair work done to your car is regulated by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) to ensure that all parts and their installation meet the performance requirements that contribute to your safety. This includes all auto glass repairs and replacements. Your windshield also supports the inflation and performance of passenger-side airbags. The passenger-side airbag deploys upward and off the windshield at speeds up to 200 mph. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require adhesives to be nearly six times stronger for cars with passenger-side airbags. Signature Shield uses the highest quality premium adhesive.
